About Hygge

Hygge (pronounced hue-gah) is a Danish word that is a feeling or mood that comes taking genuine pleasure in making ordinary, every day moments more meaningful, beautiful or special. Whether it’s making coffee, a cosy evening in with friends to the simple act of lighting a candle. Hygge is being aware of a good moment whether it’s simple or special.

Technology and modern day busy-ness has removed so many of us from ourselves, our homes and ordinary tasks, making them feel as though these things are chores. Hygge is about celebrating reality and being present and transforming the ordinary into a celebration of life.

About me

Hi! I'm Happimg_4339ily Hygge, a London dweller with a love of all things cozy.

My story started as part of a drive to help me to be happier. I was first diagnosed with depression and anxiety in July 2o15. Since then I’ve really tried to revaluate my life and work out how to be happy. I want this blog to act as a place for everyone who’s looking to make their life a bit sunnier.

When I found about Hygge it really appealed to me. It was a word that meant something that I was trying to describe. The concept of looking after yourself and simply enjoying life in the present moment. Surrounding yourself with friends and family and things that make you happy rather than constantly working towards and worrying about a work goal. Denmark constantly tops the world’s happiest nation list and I know that looking at what Danish people do has helped me to be happier.

I love reading, writing, bubble baths, traveling, fashion, beauty, interior design sport, cooking and watching good films and that is mostly what this blog is about. I hope this blog helps you to do what makes you happy and that you enjoy it. I post here every Sunday. You'll also be able to find me on Instagram.

All the best Happily Hygge xx
